Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
